Eyefi is supporting slachtoffers Azie (Victims in Asia) with the development of a web application benefit action photo auction site Asia.

thursday 6 january 2005

On the veilingazie.nl website one can make an offer on the photos of dozens of Dutch professional photographers.  These photographers are, among other things, active in fashion, advertising and journalism. Famous names are: Erwin Olaf, Patricia Steur, Corbino, Morad Bouchakour, Martijn van de Griendt. All participating photographers have made their work available for free. A variety of photos are offered. In black/white and in color. And all popular genres are represented, among which portraits, landscapes, still-life and travel photos.

Internet security
All photos are pictured on the site www.fotoveilingazie.nl. Visitors can make an offer on these photos. The actual auction of the photos and the processing is done thru E-Bay, which also pays special attention to the auction. Visitors who want to purchase a certain work on www.veilingazie.nl, will be linked thru to www.ebay.nl. This way a fair auction and safe processing of all transactions are ensured. Each photo remains on the site for auction for a fixed number of days, after the sale the site will be renewed with fresh photos. Each photo will therefore only be auctioned once. The last sale by auction is on Friday 11 February 2005.

Giro 555
All the money which is raised by this photo auction will be handed over to the  Samenwerkende Hulporganisaties (Dutch Interchurch Aid) (Giro 555) .

This initiative is  supported by various important Dutch organizations in the field of photography, among which the Fotografenfederatie (Federation of photographers) , PANL, photo museum Foam, Nederlands Foto Museum (Dutch Photo Museum). Various companies, free of charge, also give their collaboration in order to bring about this campaign.

Photography
Photography was chosen because this is an accessible art form. More and more people in The Netherlands buy photos in order to create a collection. But there is also a link with the maritime-disaster in Asia. Photos by professional photographers and amateurs have opened our eyes to all the horrors on the Asian coasts and are permanent witnesses of this.
